Common Transit Convention (CTC) Guidance

Authorisations, simplifications and procedures explained — and applied for

The Common Transit Convention (CTC) is the legal framework that allows a single transit declaration to cover movements across the EU, EFTA states, the UK, Türkiye, North Macedonia, Serbia and Ukraine. Used well, it removes the need for multiple national declarations and unlocks suspensions of duty and VAT throughout the journey.

We advise on the right CTC procedure for your business, including Authorised Consignor and Authorised Consignee status, simplified procedures, fallback rules and special procedures such as TIR. Where a HMRC application is required we draft the paperwork, supply supporting documents and liaise with HMRC until the authorisation is granted.

How It Works

  1. 1Review your routes, volumes and current customs setup
  2. 2Identify the CTC procedures and authorisations that fit
  3. 3Prepare and submit applications on your behalf
  4. 4Support your operations once authorisation is live
